The Next Great Bengali Play Starts Here. In collaboration with Queens Public Library, Bellerose, Krishti presents a series of live, rehearsed readings of new Bengali plays — each followed by a moderated discussion exploring themes, characters, dramatic structure and creative possibilities.

Krishti invites submissions of previously unpublished and unproduced Bengali plays — original works, adaptations and translations. New and emerging playwrights are especially encouraged to apply. We welcome plays exploring contemporary life, human relationships, cultural identity, social issues, history and other meaningful subjects.

Selected playwrights will be responsible for directing, casting, rehearsing and presenting their plays as live readings — directing themselves or arranging a director, actors, designers and stage manager as needed. Playwrights are also expected to join the moderated discussion following the reading.
